The GLC-TE compatible SFP is a copper (RJ-45) small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver module that allows conversion between a Gigabit (or lower speeds) ethernet port in a network device (switch, router, firewall) and a copper twisted-pair cable (Cat5e / Cat6). It effectively gives an SFP slot the ability to connect to copper Ethernet (rather than fiber).
The “GLC-TE” is the extended temperature version (hence the “E”) of the GLC-T family; it supports a wider operating temperature range.
